Interview with Mrs. Sasita Pornpanich, Alternate Executive Director of Dharmniti Law Office

1. What is your educational and career background?

Answer: I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Assumption University and with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in the field of business law from the same university.
      On having graduated with the Master of Laws, I had interest in legal consultation work, so I was determined to work in the field of legal consultation. And I’ve been working in this field to date, with 9 years of work experience in total.

 

2. What legal practice areas do you currently work in?

Answer: The professional areas I’m handling are legal consultation works relating to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), entire business transfers (EBT), partial business transfers (PBT), takeovers, joint ventures, legal due diligence, conversions into public limited companies and the listing of companies on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, company restructuring, family constitutions, including general works of legal consultation and contract drafting.

 

3. What specific skills and expertise do you have which you think can be of benefit to your clients?

Answer: As to the benefit(s) to be derived by a client from the work carried out by a lawyer, apart from the expertise in the fields in which the lawyer is skilled as mentioned above, that lawyer must also have understanding of the type of business of his/her client as supporting information.

 

4. What do you think is important when you are serving your clients?

Answer: Maintenance of professional standards, responsibility, care, including the understanding of the needs of each group of clients and each type of work

 

5. What is your greatest achievement in your legal career?

Answer: Success in all jobs based on responses to the clients’ needs and for the maximum benefit of the clients

 

6. What legal issues/ areas are you interested in and why?

Answer: The legal area of my interest is business law because it relates to a wide group of clients. Accordingly, it enables me to gain access to the needs of all groups of clients and to cope with situations which are likely to produce impacts on the clients straight to the point and in a timely manner.

 

7. What skills and attributes do you think makes a good and effective lawyer?

Answer: Professionalism, responsibility, care, self-development, and listening to different opinions.

 

8. What is your opinion about the firm’s direction in the new global legal society?

Answer: Regarding the present direction of the firm, it must keep pace with evolutions in terms of laws, businesses and technologies which have undergone rapid changes, so that it is able to have an expanded scope of work which covers and supports new forms of work.

 

9. In your opinion, what do you think DLO should do to improve its lawyers’ ability to better serve its clients’ needs?

Answer: Apart from the Company’s policy currently implemented, the constant promotion and development of lawyers’ potential are deemed to constitute an important thing which must be implemented continuously so that the lawyers learn new legislation and understand guidelines for conducting new forms of business, thereby acting in accordance with the era that has changed.
